Sunderland, Everton Fight For Joel Obi
Published: December 24, 2012
FCInternews.it citing Corriere dello Sport says Nigeria international and Inter Milan midfielder Joel Chukwuma Obi is wanted by clubs in England.
Obi has been unfortunate with injuries this campaign and this has limited his appearances for The Nerazzurri. Despite that, he is on the wishlist of Sunderland and Everton in the January transfer window which opens in a week's time.
The former NEPA Lagos youth - teamer has an Italian Passport. Hence, he will escape the strict work permit rules in England, where players are required to play 75 percent of National Team matches in the last two years.
To prise Joel Obi away from Inter Milan, the English clubs must be ready to pay 8 million euros as transfer fees.
Obi's only game in the Italian championship this season was against Catania in October.
