Sunderland Ahead Of Everton In Battle For Joel Obi
Published: December 30, 2012
Sunderland appear to be in pole position to secure the signature of the Inter Milan midfielder Joel Obi., Italy's authoritative sports daily Corriere dello Sport has hinted.
Obi's appearances for The Nerazzurri has been few this season due to his physical complaints. This has not stopped clubs from making enquiries on his availability in the January transfer window.
The hypothesis is that Joel Obi, who has not been named in Nigeria's provisional African Cup of Nations squad, will join Sunderland on loan to gain experience.
The Nigeria international has an Italian Passport, and will escape the strict work permit rules in the United Kingdom. Everton are also said to be keen on the Super Eagle this winter.
