John Ogu Faces Spell On The Sidelines
Published: January 01, 2013
Académica midfielder John Ugochukwu Ogu had to be replaced just before half time in Sunday's League Cup game against Olhanense.
The 24 - year - old suffered an injury and is expected to see doctors in the coming days to know the extent of injury and possibly his stint on the sidelines.
John Ogu told allnigeriasoccer.com: ''I did not participate in training on Monday because I pulled my hamstring in our game on Sunday. Well, for now, I haven't done a check up to know how long I am staying out. Today is a free day so I will see the doctors on Wednesday.''
After failing to win their last seven games in the Primeira Liga, Académica desperately need points in the upcoming matches to get their season back on track.
''We have to win our next games to remedy the situation. We drew so many games in the first half of the season. Teams ahead of us got 1 or 2 points. 2013 will be a great year for us because we have so many players coming back from injury,'' says Ogu.
Ogu has played 10 games for 15th on the table Académica in the Portuguese championship.
