Michael Olaitan Heading To Olympiakos - Veria Coach
Published: January 01, 2013
Dimitrios Kalaitzidis, manager of Greece Super League club Veria FC, has admitted that Nigerian midfielder Michael Olaitan is on the brink of joining Olympiakos.
''I know the player is very close to Olympiakos and eventually he'll go there. I can say this: I think that PAOK missed a golden opportunity to broaden the potential of a valuable player,'' Kalaitzidis was quoted as saying by Sport FM Greece.
When questioned on Olaitan's greatest asset, Kalaitzidis said: ''He has what the top teams are looking for. He is highly capable of handling the ball when running with it at his feet. If he's without the ball, his speed is reduced slightly. Can change direction with ease while running with the ball and is very proficient in one against one.''
Michael Olaitan, only 19, has failed to train with Veria in the last one week, fueling speculation that his two - year romance with Veria has come to an end.
The former Mighty Jets rookie is one of three nominees for the Best Young Player in the Football League. The winner will be announced by the Footballers Union on Monday, January 14th at a ceremony in Athens.
