In front of 27, 234 spectators, the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Wednesday evening held the Catalonia National Team to a 1 - 1 draw at Cornella-El Prat, the home-ground of La Liga side Espanyol.
As early as the 3rd minute, a Sergio Gonzalez penalty had given Johan Cruyff's charges the lead. And the scoreline did not change until 10 minutes into the second half. United States based support striker Bright Dike, whose physical presence was a plus to the Eagles, scored the equalizer after receiving a pass from Lazio's Eddy Onazi.
Looking for a winner, coach Stephen Keshi introduced Ikechukwu Uche (Villarreal), Russian based pair Ahmed Musa (CSKA Moscow) and Emmanuel Emenike (Spartak Moscow) after Dike's goal. However, the Catalonians still dominated the attack.
The Eagles next friendly is against Nations Cup debutantes Cape Verde at St Louis Stadium Faro, Portugal on January 9th.
