Published: January 11, 2013
Mjällby AIF central defender Gbenga Arokoyo has tipped the Super Eagles to lift the African Cup of Nations trophy when the final match is played on February 10 in Johannesburg.
The youngster has called on Nigerians to support the Stephen Keshi tutored side in its quest to bring the cup home.
Speaking to allnigeriasoccer.com, Arokoyo, a product of Kwara State Football Academy said: ''I wish the Eagles well in South Africa. The coach (Stephen Keshi, ed) has selected the best crop of players for this tournament. And I believe we can win the trophy with the support of all the stakeholders especially the fans.''
Despite playing only nine games in the Allsvenskan last term, reports in Sweden are strongly linking Gbenga Arokoyo with some of Europe's finest teams including OGC Nice, Lille, Twente and Benfica.
''I heard about the interest of those teams, maybe a rumor. There has been no contact between me and those clubs,'' says Arokoyo.
The 20 - year - old's contract with Mjällby expires at the end of the 2014 season.
