28 - year - old Nigerian striker Philip Chidi Onyemah has reached an agreement in principle to join Greek Super League club Platanias F.C, according to matching press reports in Cyprus and Greece. He said goodbye to his teammates for the last time after training on Monday.
Onyemah had a proposal from Kazakhstan, but did not agree contract terms with the unnamed club, says Sigma Live. He was to remain in Cyprus with Olympiakos Nicosia, then, an offer with improved wages came from Platanias F.C.
The former Rio Ave of Portugal attacker's contract with Olympiakos Nicosia was due to expire this June. The capital club reached an agreement with Onyemah that he can leave the club as a free agent in the winter transfer market. In exchange for his freedom, Olympiakos will not pay the player the financial equivalent of the remaining six months of his contract.
Philip Onyemah's move to Greece is a huge relief to Olympiakos Nicosia. He was one of the highest paid players at the club.
