Seydou Doumbia : Difficult To Say Who Will Win The Cup
Published: January 20, 2013
CSKA Moscow attacker Seydou Doumbia has been out of action for most part of the season due to a back injury. Thus, he was not considered for selection when Ivory Coast manager Sabri Lamouchi named his 23-man African Cup of Nations squad.
Speaking to Russian media, Doumbia has commented on the chances of The Elephants winning the African Cup of Nations.
''I hope the tournament is successful. Supporters of Ivory Coast deserve the win. I am convinced my colleagues in the team will do everything possible to bring back the trophy to Abidjan,'' Doumbia was quoted as saying by Sport Express.
Doumbia did not pick a specific team that will be the main challenger of Ivory Coast at the tournament in South Africa.
''It is difficult to answer. At the last tournament, nobody took Zambia to be favorites, and she sprang a surprise and won. For African players it is a great honor to defend the colors of their country. Therefore, players can find the hidden reserves for victories. It is for this reason, is difficult to say who exactly will win the cup.''
