Afcon Glory: Good Omen For Nigerian Sports - Afe Babalola

The respected Ibadan based legal luminary, Are Afe Babalola has joined other Nigerians in congratulating the victorious Super Eagles of Nigeria in the recently conclude Africa Cup of Nations held in South Africa.
Reacting to the victory to newsmen in his office, the sports philanthropist described Eagles’ victory as a good omen for the nation’s sports. saying “this development would make others to believe more in themselves that they can also do it with determination. AFCON glory would serve as good inventory in motivating and revitalizing the spirit of our other sports men and women”.
While commending Coach Stephen Keshi over the respectable and commendable result he recorded within his short stint with the national team, the Ekiti high Chief however clamoured for an improved Super Eagles urging Keshi not to rest no his oars but comb the local league and recruit more home based players who are hungrier for success into the team saying no one can underestimate the impact of the local players in the achievement or the team in South Africa.
It would be recalled that Afe Babalola has greatly supported sports development within his domain on different occasions by donating millions of naira to 3SC, sponsoring NITO Queens FC in Nigerian Women’s League, sponsoring the tournament that produced winner for Ibadan Football Association League annually tagged Afe Babalola Super League and awarding scholarships to outstanding sports men and women in Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, among others.
