Fegor Ogude Gets Frowned On By Valerenga
Published: February 18, 2013Norwegian Tippeligaen club Vålerenga had been furious with the Nigeria international Fegor Ogude that he failed to arrive the team's pre-season camp at La Manga, Spain over the weekend.
Following Nigeria's triumph at the African Cup of Nations, Ogude flew back to Abuja with his international colleagues.
And the celebrations took him around the country from the nation's capital to Lagos and Asaba.
Having skippered millionaire Nigeria Premier League side Warri Wolves, it was very important that Ogude honored the invitation of sports loving Governor of Delta State Emmanuel Uduaghan last Thursday which delayed his trip back to Europe.
''Fegor has returned to Oslo, left Nigeria on Saturday night and arrived on Sunday morning.
''As things stand, I don't think he is joining Vålerenga at their training camp in Spain as they are due to return to Norway on Tuesday,'' Atta Aneke informed allnigeriasoccer.com.
Earlier reports in Norway had suggested that Fegor Ogude was still in Nigeria celebrating the Super Eagles third Nations Cup laurel. Of course, Vif were not pleased that one of their most important players shunned the training exercise at La Manga.
''Maybe they were not aware . When I read the reports in Norway, I called Vålerenga and informed them that he is back in Oslo. I'll say they were not aware,'' stressed Atta Aneke.
For the past seven months, Ogude has not played an official game for Vålerenga. The midfielder was substituted less than 10 minutes into the game against Odd Grenland after breaking his foot.
He recovered just in time to make Stephen Keshi's 23 - man African Cup of Nations roster, and went on to play three matches at the tournament in South Africa.
