Sound Interest In Obafemi Martins From MLS
Published: February 21, 2013
Levante striker Obafemi Martins is believed to be on the radar of MLS club Seattle Sounders.
The 28-year old Nigerian international has been loosely linked with a potential move to North America according to the Washington Post’s Soccer Insider Steve Goff.
He posted on Twitter: “Seattle Sounders in hunt for Nigerian forward Obafemi Martins? Just a little somethin' I heard today. Thoughts? #mls.”
Martins has had a fairly successful start to his career in Europe with Inter Milan and Newcastle United before finding life a bit more difficult with VfL Wolfsburg and Rubin Kazan.
He then had a loan with Birmingham City in 2011, helping them to the League Cup title with a goal in the 2-1 win over Arsenal, ahead of his move to Spain in September last year.
Since joining Levante, Martins has scored nine goals in 17 La Liga appearances and also scored in the Europa League victory over Olympiakos last week.
