Obafemi Martins May Play In The Derby
Published: March 01, 2013
Levante forward Obafemi Martins, who is fishing for a move to MLS outfit Seattle Sounders, could be named in the squad for the tie against Valencia on Saturday at the Estadio de Mestalla, manager Juan Ignacio Martinez has hinted to Spanish media.
Juan Ignacio Martinez told Marca: ''He has trained normally. We talked with him and he remains a Levante player.
''So there is every possibility that he'll be here on Saturday.''
At the press conference, Juan Ignacio Martinez denied reports that the influential players of Levante have told him not to play Obafemi Martins, the leading scorer for the side in the Spanish championship with 7 strikes.
It is understood that Seattle Sounders have offered the sum of 2 million euros for Martins.
But the leadership of Levante will only allow the former FC Ebedei player leave if the buyout clause of 3 million euros plus VAT is met.
