FC Cologne Might Buy Ujah If They Are Promoted To Bundesliga
Published: March 21, 2013
FC Cologne borrowed Nigerian striker Anthony Ujah from Mainz in August 2012. A buy option was not inserted into the loan agreement.
Anthony Ujah has flourished at Cologne, scoring 11 goals in 22 matches, including his brace against Dresden on Monday.
''With each match, Tony is becoming more attractive to other clubs. We will throw our hat in the ring,'' manager Holger Stanislawski told Kicker.
Logically, Ujah's market value has skyrocketed and it would be difficult to sign the player permanently if Cologne are not promoted to the top flight at the end of the current campaign, the club has admitted.
''Whether we can keep him, lies on the economic environment, it is probably only possible if we go up.
''I do not expect that for Mainz and Tony an option( of re-lending). Player has developed its market value. This is the crux of lending,''Executive Manager Jörg Jacob added.
