Papa Idris To Test With Kilmarnock
Published: March 26, 2013
According to Tuesday's edition of the Scottish Sun, SPL outfit Kilmarnock have invited for trials highly rated Nigeria defender Papa Idris, who is currently on the payroll of CAF Champions League campaigners Kano Pillars.
The ex Kaduna United skipper has been capped four times by the Super Eagles but injuries have limited his appearances.
He was cut from the final Afcon roster due to an injury he picked in Kano Pillars Federation cup semi final loss to Lobi Stars in December.
Already, Papa Idris, 23, submitted his visa application to the British embassy in Abuja last week.
If he proves his fitness to the coaching staff of Kilmarnock during trials, he will be plying his trade in the same country like his former Kaduna United central defense partner Efe Ambrose who plays for Celtic.
Top Israeli agent Dudu Dahan, who represents Efe Ambrose, is believed to have brokered for Idris his proposed test with Kilmarnock.
This should not come as a surprise as both players grew up under the same roof in the house of the famous kaduna United Chairman Hon. Sabo Babayaro, the father of ex Chelsea fullback Celestine Babayaro.
Last summer, Papa Idris turned down a move to Croatian club HNK Rijeka. He would join Rabiu Ibrahim at the traditional Scottish club if he is offered a contract.
