Uche Nwofor Hopeful To Return Next Weekend
Published: April 07, 2013
Former Flying Eagles striker Uche Nwofor has not featured for VVV Venlo since late February due to a thigh complaint.
His rehabilitation is going according to plan and he could return to the pitch as early as next weekend against PEC Zwolle.
Uche Nwofor told allnigeriasoccer.com: ''I hope to be back this week because I have started training real good. I got injured immediately after the match against NEC back in February .
''I was undergoing training with with our strikers trainer , then I felt pains in front of my thigh muscles . My legs were vibrating, I could not run or kick the ball any more. But I am now okay.''
VVV Venlo have struggled in Nwofor's injury-enforced absence, losing five matches on the bounce. Once again, the Limburg based club are fighting for Premier League survival.
But Nwofor wants VVV Venlo to forget about their recent poor run of form and concentrate on the remaining games in the championship.
''My coming back to the team, I hope it will give the team the needed morale booster . I know I have to work hard to be on the same level I was prior to my injury. With God, we will escape relegation,'' he said.
VVV Venlo have scored only once in their last five games in the Dutch championship.
