Gabonese Federation Picks Holes In Heartland's Claims
Published: April 08, 2013
The claims of Heartland FC through the Media Officer that the team was due to depart Nigeria last Thursday for the Confederation Cup second leg tie against US Bitam are totally false.
Perhaps, if officials of Heartland were sincere enough, the club won't be in this predicament . It is almost a foregone conclusion that they have been walked over by US Bitam after they arrived Gabon on match day.
The Nigeria Federation had sent an email to their Gabonese counterparts requesting for the match to be postponed. And in that letter, the NFF said Heartland were due to leave Nigeria on Thursday with Asky Airline but the flight was cancelled.
But Fegafoot investigated the claims of the Nigeria Federation and it was discovered that there was no flight from Nigeria to Gabon on Thursday, April 4. Hence, the request by the Nigerians was rejected.
CAF will now decide Heartland's fate - if the game is to be rescheduled for another date or award a 3 - 0 walkover to US Bitam.
