Obinna Obiefule Speaks On Botched China Deal
Published: April 21, 2013
Two months ago, record goalscorer in the history of the Maltese Premier League Obinna Obiefule was reportedly on his way to China to join First Division club Harbin Yiteng.
But the move collapsed and the 25 - year - old attacker had to return to Malta. Now Obiefule claims he was instructed by the leadership of Hibernians to cancel the contract with Harbin Yiteng.
Speaking to allnigeriasoccer.com from his base in Malta, Obinna Obiefule said: ''Hibs want me to stay with them until the end of the season, and that's why the China deal did not work out again.
''I still have the chance to go back to China in June. But I might decide to remain in Europe.
''Moreover, if Hibs win the championship we will play in the Champions League. That is an avenue for me to be in the shop window and that will open more doors for me.''
Obinna Obiefule has scored 11 goals in 18 matches in the Maltese top flight. However, he has not been on the score-sheet yet this calender year.
