Newcastle United have joined the race to land the signature of Nigeria center back Godfrey Oboabona in the summer transfer window, reports metro.co.uk.
22 - year - old Oboabona, who plies his trade with Sunshine Stars in the domestic championship, is also wanted by teams in France (Lille and Rennes) and Ukraine (Metallurg Donetsk).
The defender's agent has been offering his services to clubs in Europe including Arsenal.
According to reports, the Gunners hierarchy have decided not to offer Oboabona a contract but will continue to monitor his development through their scouting network.
Godfrey Oboabona is valued at 300,000 euros by transfer market experts.
It is believed that an interested suitor could poach him from Sunshine Stars if an offer of 600,000 euros is tabled.
