Kenya Super Talent, Blackberry May Be Recalled For Nigeria Match
Published: May 01, 2013
Lille striker Divock Origi, cousin to Kenya’s number one keeper Arnold Origi is among the players that are being constantly watched by Harambee Stars Coach Adel Amrouche.
According to his assistant James Nandwa, there are over 20 foreign based players who are being watched and are likely to be called up for the national team duty against Black Stars of Ghana and Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Nandwa also says that former Gor Mahia striker George Blackberry Odhiambo currently in Armenia has also caught the eye of the Coach now that he is back on form.
“We will be calling up players based on their form and not their names. We have over 20 players whom we are watching plying their trade outside the country and we will call up players who will come here to play and not warm the bench,” Nandwa told Michezoafrika.com.
“We are looking at Divock also, being a youngstar we want him to start playing for the national team and we will contact him,” Nandwa adds.
The foreign based legion is expected in the country on May 27th, in preparation for the Ghana friendly as well as the World Cup Qualifier against Nigeria, both in Nairobi.
“The Ghana friendly will be very important especially coming just days before we play against Nigeria. It will help us gauge our strengths and weaknesses as well as try out different combinations we might use against Nigeria,” Nandwa notes.
