Lille Chase Nigeria Defender Taye Taiwo
Published: May 01, 2013
Ukrainian media citing celebrated Italy sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Nigeria wing back Taye Taiwo could make a sensational return to Ligue 1.
Football.ua says representatives of Lille have already approached the leadership of the Italian team for the signature of Taiwo, who has experience playing in the French championship for Marseille.
Highly sought - after Cameroonian defender Aurelio Chedjou is wanted by AC Milan in the summer transfer market.
To meet his market value thought to be around 12 million euros, Taye Taiwo will be used as makeweight in the deal to land the signature of the Cameroon international.
At this juncture, it is unclear whether AC Milan intend to lose Taye Taiwo to Lille.
What is known is that Dynamo Kiev hold the right of first refusal to purchase the defender outright from The Red and Blacks.
Taye Taiwo has made 17 appearances in the Ukrainian Premier League and played 6 games in the Champions League for the Kievites.
He is also attracting interest from clubs in Russia (Rubin Kazan), England, Portugal and Turkey.
