Published: May 21, 2013
Real Betis midfielder Nosa Igiebor was operated on successfully on Monday by Doctor Manuel Martin, informs estadiodeportivo.com.
The Nigerian international had laparoscopic surgery for about 45 minutes, and may be discharged on Tuesday, according to the doctor.
Nosa Igiebor played his last game for Real Betis this term in the penultimate round of matches, against Celta de Vigo on May 12. He was substituted by manager Pepe Mel 10 minutes after the restart.
He won't wear the jersey of Real Betis until the squad returns from summer vacation.
The Nigerian player, who arrived last summer from Hapoel Tel-Aviv Israel for more than a million euros, had some discomfort for weeks that made him not to train normally, so the Betis medical staff decided that he should go under the knife.
The highlight of Nosa's first season in La Liga must be that important goal he scored against city rivals Seville on Friday, April 12.
Last February, the 22 - year - old attacking midfielder was champion of Africa with the Super Eagles, but at the end of the tournament took more than a month to return to Sevilla because of some bureaucratic problems.
He was later fined a record sum by the leadership of Real Betis
