Published: May 23, 2013
23 - year - old Ogbu was a big hit for OHL in his first season in Belgium. If not that he was dogged by injuries, the ex Enugu Rangers youth - teamer could have added to his 10 goals in 23 matches.
Needless to say, he was a marked man this past campaign, but still showed his performance in the 2011 - 2012 season was not a flash in the pan by netting 8 goals.
A plethora of clubs in Germany, Belgium and Romania are interested in the signature of Derick Ogbu, who has been tipped to be one of the top footballers in the world in no distant future by ex Ajax coach Henk ten Cate.
''Derick has proved himself at OH Leuven and wants a new adventure.
''We have offers from Cologne, 1860 Munich, Hertha Berlin, Sc Freiburg, Pandurii, RAEC Mons, Lokeren, Zulte Waregem and Lierse that we are evaluating.
''Soon, we shall make a decision on his future destination,'' a representative of Ogbu, Christina Mai told allnigeriasoccer.com in a telephone conversation.
Under contract with OH Leuven until June 2014, initial asking price for the attacker is around 1.5 million euros.
