21 - year - old Nwankwo, who is relatively unknown in his homeland, has rejected a two - year contract proposed by the leadership of Liga de Honra side Portimonense S.C.
Top division clubs in Portugal, Switzerland and Poland are in advanced discussions with Nwankwo's representative.
''We are working on my joining a new team and will likely reach a decision this week. My agent has been in contact with some clubs.
''We have started negotiations with three Primeira Liga clubs and few from Poland and Switzerland,'' Nwankwo, who is now a free agent, told allnigeriasoccer.com in a telephone conversation.
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Belenenses, Vitória de Guimarães, Gil Vicente, Servette and Jagiellonia Bialystok are jostling for the signature of Nwankwo, who netted 11 times in Portugal's second - tier this past season.
