Coach Stephen Keshi Delighted With Nigeria Win
Published: June 06, 2013
The Super Eagles of Nigeria stretched their lead at the top of Group J in the World Cup Qualifiers after their 1-0 win over Kenya’s Harambee Stars on Wednesday evening.
However, Super Eagles Coach Stephen Keshi, known as the Big boss could not hide his admiration for Kenyan skipper Victor Mugubi after the match.
Keshi said that the midfielder has great talent and he would not mind having him play for the Super Eagles.
Michezoafrika.com quoted Keshi as saying: ''He is a great player, a player I truly admire and I wish I would have him play for the Super Eagles.
''He demonstrated today that he is a big player and he is one of the top players I had instructed my team to closely guard. I know what he is capable of doing and letting him free would be disastrous for us.''
On the win, Keshi was happy winning against Kenya especially in Nairobi.
''This is a tough place to win and it is not only a win that keeps us on top of the table but also gives us good morale as we head to the confederations Cup.
''We have been playing the 4-3-3 formation and it won us the African Cup.
''We have perfected that with time and it was our biggest asset today.
''We wanted to sit back and study our opponents in the opening few minutes and we planned to hit in the final minutes when we increase the attacks,” notes the tactician.
