Newcastle United, Sunderland On Alert As Inter Milan Declare Joel Obi Surplus To Requirements

Newcastle United will battle it out with Sunderland for the signature of Nigeria international Joel Obi, whose appearance for Inter Milan last season was few as a result of injury.

FCInternews.it says the 22 - year - old ex NEPA Lagos youth - teamer is not in the plans of manager Walter Mazzarri this coming campaign.

Thus, Joel Obi, who is under contract with the Nerazzurri until June 2017, could depart Italy for a new adventure possibly in England.

In the coming days, Newcastle United and Sunderland plan to launch official bids for the midfielder.

Joel Obi, who has fully recovered from the injury that dogged him for most part of the 2012 - 2013 season, has been on the books of Inter Milan since 2005.
