Exclusive: Tony Nwakaeme Rejects CFR Cluj Contract Offer
Published: June 11, 2013
Universitatea Cluj attacker Tony Nwakaeme has rejected a move to CFR Cluj due to the rivalry that exists between both teams, allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report.
Just last week, the 24 - year - old, who is now holidaying in Nigeria, had been expected to sign a contract with Steaua Bucharest.
The proposed move is now in doubt after medical tests revealed that the player has a knee complaint.
Manager of Steaua Bucharest, Laurenè›iu Reghecampf had intended to offer Nwakaeme a contract and invited him to the capital, where he was lodged in a hotel, same building where the club has an office.
But the players of the Romanian champions advised the gaffer to subject the Nigerian to medical test before the contract offer.
Apart from the interest shown by CFR Cluj, other Liga 1 teams including Dinamo Bucharest and Vaslui are interested in the acquisition of Tony Nwakakeme.
It is believed that he will turn down a move to Dinamo Bucharest as their wage structure does not favor players.
