Stephen Keshi Rues Missed Scoring Opportunities
Published: June 18, 2013
Nigeria gaffer Stephen Keshi has commented on the 6 - 1 hammering of part-timers Tahiti on Monday evening.
In his analysis, the African Cup of Nations winning coach admonished his players for missing several opportunities.
The scoreline would have been more emphatic if Anthony Ujah, Sunday Mba, Ahmed Musa and man of the moment Nnamdi Oduamadi had buried their chances in front of goal.
Keshi was quoted as saying by globoesporte.globo.com: ''Our players need to create chances and score the goals. In a game like this can not miss many opportunities. This increases the confidence of the adversary. And that is Tahiti reacted.''
While admitting that they were tired by the journey to Brazil as a result of the infamous bonus row between the Federation and the players, Stephen Keshi has heaped praise on the Tahiti National Team for making the game a contest.
''They really came to play like lions and showed that they can play football. Congratulations to them,'' he said to TV Globo.
Nigeria departs Belo Horizonte on Tuesday morning for Salvador, where they are scheduled to play Uruguay on June 20.
