Published: June 18, 2013
Using video evidence, Football's governing body, Fifa, the organizers of the Confederations Cup, has upturned the decision of the match referee Joel Aguilar, who credited Nigeria's first goal against Tahiti to Sporting Braga's Uwa Echiejile.
The goal which came after five minutes has been recorded as an own goal scored by Tahiti defender Nicolas Vallar.
Thus, Echiejile scored only once against the Oceania representatives, in the 80th minute.
Nnamdi Oduamadi's hat- trick (10th, 26th and 76th minute) remains valid.
Tahiti's Jonathan Tehau made Confederations Cup history on Monday by being the first player to score at both ends of the pitch.
