Terem Moffi will not be involved when Hamburg face SC Verl in the DFB-Pokal on Monday, but the Super Eagles striker is closing in on a move to the six-time German top-flight champions.
According to Hamburger Morgenpost, Moffi's transfer to Hamburg is imminent, with only the final paperwork between the Bundesliga club and OGC Nice left to complete before the deal is officially announced, which is expected to happen by Monday at the latest.
Moffi completed his medical at the Volksparkstadion on Saturday, while the two clubs had already reached an agreement.
Hamburg are reportedly paying €2 million upfront for the 27-year-old, with a further €500,000 available in bonuses.
He is expected to sign a contract until the end of the 2028-29 season, with the delay being purely administrative rather than related to his medical.
Several documents still need to be signed before the deal can be formally completed, and there is little expectation that the transfer will collapse.
Moffi could begin training with Hamburg as early as Tuesday as he looks to regain full fitness.
He has been inactive at club level since April 26 and his lack of match fitness could be a concern ahead of Hamburg's Bundesliga opener against Borussia Dortmund next weekend.
