24 goals in last 7 matches: Arsenal legend Wilshere hails Obi-Martin for extraordinary form
Published: April 28, 2024Arsenal legend Jack Wilshere has praised Chido Obi-Martin for his extraordinary form since the beginning of March.
The Denmark U17 international of Nigerian descent has scored in each of his last seven games in the U18 Premier League.
On Saturday, he broke Folarin Balogun's record for the most goals scored by an Arsenal player in a single U18 Premier League season following his seven-goal haul against Norwich City,.
Obi-Martin has notched 24 goals in his last seven matches in the U18 Premier League, netting four goals or more in four of those games.
The precocious talent has accounted for 58.54 percent of the total goals scored by the Gunners 18s in their last seven games in the U18 Premier League.
Wilshere is impressed by Obi-Martin's ability to score goals, but he also emphasized the significance of those who assisted in creating those scoring opportunities.
Making his first start for Arsenal at this level, the versatile Nigerian winger Andre Annous contributed two assists to Obi-Martin, while Cam'ron Ismail, also of Nigerian descent, provided the assist for the center forward's sixth goal.
Speaking to Arsenal's official website, Wilshere said: "Of course, it helps when you have a goalscorer like Chido who is on fire at the moment, and everything he touches seems to go in.
"He's worked so hard over the last couple of years, especially since we've had him at Sobha Realty Training Centre over the last six weeks, and he's getting his rewards for that hard work.
"But, we've also got to give massive credit to the team for supplying him."
As exclusively reported by allnigeriasoccer.com twelve days ago, Obi-Martin has been offered a scholarship and professional contract by Arsenal ahead of the 2024-2025 season.
