Ijebu-Ode Agog As Ogun Unity Cup Begins

Almost 30 teams across all six geo-political zone of Nigeria and West African countries jostling for honour in an Under-16 and Under-13 International Soccer Competition tagged ‘Ogun Unity Cup’ going-on at Dipo Dina International Stadium Ijebu-Ode, the event that was organized by A Square Sports International in collaboration with Ogun State Football Association.
Former Secretary General of Nigeria Football Association, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi who kicked-off the tourney on Monday has praised the Ibadan based soccer school, Frenage International Soccer Academy that masterminded and bankrolled the soccer tourney over its grassroots football development drive.
Chief Ogunjobi, while addressing the participants urged them to utilize every opportunity derivable from the tournament where an ex- Chelsea FC’s Youth Coach, Fennessey Harty Thomas, the technical director of Frenage would be scouting for exceptional talented players that would enjoy scholarship scheme package.
He however, reiterated his commitment to grassroots football development, saying “grassroots football development, which suppose to be the priority of every stakeholders of the game is suffering serious neglect, and that is why I always support and encourage anyone that invested their hard earn resources in developing the grassroots”.
Meanwhile the grand finale of the tourney has been slated for Sunday 15th June with the executive governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun expected to declare the event closed, other dignitaries expected are the top government functionaries in Ogun State and Royal fathers.
