Much-Heralded Kid Selbol Scores On Champions League, Sporting Kansas Debut
Published: October 20, 2016
Former Dream Team VI trainee Nansel Selbol was on target in his first ever appearance in the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League as Sporting Kansas City beat Central FC 3-1 on Wednesday.
Few days before the contest at Children’s Mercy Park, the 19-year-old was drafted into the first team squad and repaid the faith of manager Peter Vermes with a goal in the 55th minute.
On 49 minutes, the hosts equalized before Selbol fired home a brilliant 20 yards effort to give his side the lead in the 55th minute.
The 19-year-old would have bagged a hat-trick but was unlucky, with his volley rattling the outside of the post in the 59th minute and was denied again in the 77th minute when he hit the post.
On his competitive debut for SKC, Nansel Selbol started and finished the game against the team from Trinidad and Tobago.
