Ajiboye's Wife Recommends GK To Rohr: He Deserves To Make Nigeria World Cup Roster
Published: February 02, 2018
Dele Ajiboye's wife has sent a loud and clear message to Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr that the goalkeeper deserves to be included in the Super Eagles 23-man squadlist for the World Cup.
The Plateau United netminder was at his very best in the CHAN Eagles 1-0 win vs Sudan on Wednesday, with the 27-year-old making eight saves.
Ajiboye had to be introduced in the 12th minute as first-choice goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa had to be stretchered off the pitch after suffering an injury.
''His performance was so wonderful, though he didn’t know he was going to be at the goalpost yesterday night, but all the same, all glory and praises to Allah,'' Folashade Ajiboye told sportsvillagesquare.com.
''All just happen due to his hard work and dedication. I wish and I know God will surely do the best for him.
''I pray for my husband, my wish is for him to make the FIFA World Cup squad because he has shown he deserve it.''
Ajiboye, himself, has less than four months left to convince Rohr to take him to the 2018 World Cup, as he is currently behind Francis Uzoho, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Daniel Akpeyi in the pecking order of goalkeepers.
He was the number one keeper at the 2007 Fifa U17 World Cup won by Nigeria and was part of the Flying Eagles squad at the 2009 Fifa U20 World Cup.
