Super Eagles Hopeful Eze Off To Flying Start In Pre-Season With Goal For QPR
Published: July 07, 2018Super Eagles hopeful Eberechi Eze started Queens Park Rangers pre-season schedule on an impressive note after finding the net for the Championship side in their entertaining 3-3 draw with Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
Charlton took the lead through Lyle Taylor in the 29th minute but the two teams were level ten minutes later after the Nigerian wonderkid restored parity for the Hoops.
Eze fired past goalkeeper Phillips from 18 yards out after Matt Smith's header was cleared off the line, and was unlucky not to score in first-half injury time after the goalkeeper tipped his effort over the bar.
With the scoreboard reading 2-1 in favour of the Addicks, ex-Manchester United youth-teamer Nicky Ajose would have doubled the advantage but saw his shot saved in the 54th minute.
QPR duo Eze and Bright Osayi-Samuel were in action for the entirety of the first half, while Ajose and midfielder Joe Aribo played the whole of the second half for the League One team.
Greenwich-born Eze, who is predominantly a striker, trained with Nigeria's national team in London in March 2017.
