Sunderland Issue One-Week Contract Ultimatum To Former Super Eagles Invitee
Published: December 30, 2018EFL League One club Sunderland have handed a one-week ultimatum to former Super Eagles invitee Josh Maja to commit his future to the Black Cats.
The 20-year-old is in the final six months of his contract with Sunderland and has been offered a new deal, which he has refused to sign at this moment.
In the event that Maja does not pen a new deal within the next one week, everything indicates that he will be sold before the close of the January transfer window.
''With Josh, he has been made a final offer and set a deadline of the end of next week,'' Sunderland coach Jack Ross was quoted as saying by Chronicle Live.
''Should he agree that, great. Should he not, then we will understand where we are at as a club and the club will have to make a decision on how they move that forward.''
Maja netted his fourteenth goal in all competitions as Sunderland were held to a 1-1 draw by Shrewsbury Town at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, December 29.
