'Even If Ronaldo Is In Super Eagles, We Have To Play As A Team' - Etebo On AFCON Chances
Published: January 27, 2019Stoke City midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo has emphasized that the Super Eagles must play as a team if they are to succeed at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations holding in Egypt this summer.
The likes of Samuel Kalu, Samuel Chukwueze, Kenneth Omeruo and Ola Aina are making waves for their respective European clubs but the Potters star has stressed that it will count for nothing if there's no collective effort.
''The Africa Cup of Nations is one of the tough tournaments,'' Etebo said in an interview with SuperSport Naija Made.
''It depends on the coach who will pick the starting eleven or 23-man squad, it has to be a collective team, so even if you are doing well or not doing well in your club it doesn't matter.
''Even if you have Ronaldo in your team, it has to be a collective team. If the team is not collective or not united, I don't think they can stand a chance.''
Oghenekaro Etebo has accumulated 18 caps since making his debut for the Super Eagles in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt in March 2016.
