Kidnappers Demand N50 Million To Release Samuel Kalu's Mom
Published: March 04, 2019According to the Guardian Nigeria, Samuel Kalu's mother has been abducted by gunmen believed to be kidnappers and taken to an unknown destination.
The report added that Mrs Kalu was driving with some of her children to the Okpulu Umuobo area when gunmen blocked her vehicle, ordered the children out of the car and took her to a location that remains unknown.
It is claimed that the kidnappers initially demanded N50 million ransom money before she is released and that sum could rise as they believe the Bordeaux winger is a wealthy player.
The Super Eagles star earns approximately N412 million every season at Bordeaux, meaning he will lose at least twelve percent of his yearly wages if the kidnappers' demands are met.
This is not the first time that a Super Eagles player will face a kidnap ordeal involving a member of the family as midfielders Mikel Obi and Fegor Ogude previously suffered similar experiences in 2018 and 2016 respectively.
It remains to be seen if Kalu will take to the pitch when Bordeaux face Montpellier on Tuesday in the Ligue 1.
