Three Nigerian Young Stars Train With Arsenal First Team Pre-Crystal Palace
Published: April 20, 2019Three players eligible to represent the Nigeria National Teams were spotted training with Arsenal's first-team ahead of Sunday afternoon's Premier League clash against Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium.
Images published by the official website of Arsenal, arsenal.com showed Super Eagles winger Alex Iwobi, Bukayo Saka and goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo working out with the first-teamers at London Colney on Saturday.
While Iwobi is guaranteed a spot in the match day eighteen, the same cannot be said about fellow Hale End Academy products Saka and Okonkwo.
The England U19 winger has not been included in the Gunners match day squad since his appearance off the bench against Blackpool in the Emirates FA Cup on January 5.
Okonkwo is the third choice goalkeeper at Arsenal presently, behind Bernd Leno and Petr Čech, but he has not yet made an appearance for the first team.
The 17-year-old has impressed for the U23 side in recent games and was named in the traveling party for the Europa League meeting with Napoli this week.
Xavier Amaechi and Miguel Azeez are the other Nigeria-eligible teenagers in the ranks of Arsenal to watch out for in the coming months.
