Published: January 16, 2020Damien Comolli has resigned from his position as Fenerbahce sporting director after seventeen months in charge, the Turkish Super Lig club announced on Thursday, January 16.
The Frenchman played a key role in Victor Moses's loan move to the Yellow Canaries in January 2019, with Fenerbahce beating English Premier League clubs to the signature of the winger.
Regarding the 27 signings made by Comolli during his time at Fenerbahce, several incoming transfers have come under scrutiny, including Moses'.
Turkish media outlet Tele 1 wrote on the transfer of the former Nigeria international : "Victor Moses was another Comolli transfer. But so far has not been able to meet expectations. Moses, because of injury was away from the squad".
Moses has not been able to take part in twelve matches played by Fernabahce this season because of a muscle-related injury and is set to miss Saturday's trip to Gaziantep FK as he has not resumed full training with the rest of his teammates.
The 29-year-old did show flashes of brilliance in the second half of last season, ending the campaign with four goals in 14 Super Lig matches.
Comolli previously worked with Premier League clubs Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.
