'He'll Stay Here To Train' - Everton Boss Reveals Iwobi Won't Be Risked Vs Newcastle United
Published: January 20, 2020Everton coach Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that Nigeria international Alex Iwobi will not be available for selection when they take on Newcastle United in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
The winger cum playmaker suffered a hamstring injury in the closing minutes of the Toffees goalless draw against Arsenal on December 21 and the initial prognosis was a three-week layoff.
Though the Hale End Academy product has been training at USM Finch Farm, Ancelotti has stated that he doesn't want to take any risks.
In Monday's pre-match press conference monitored by allnigeriasoccer.com, the former AC Milan and Chelsea boss said : "Iwobi, he is doing well but we don't want to take a risk for the game tomorrow. He will stay here to train."
Everton have an injury crisis in midfield as Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Andre Gomes and Gylfi Sigurdsson will not be utilized against the Magpies.
It remains to be seen if Iwobi would have fully recovered ahead of Everton's trip to Watford on February 1.
