Nigeria Target Bukayo Saka Debuts For England's Senior Team, Wearing Number 3 Shirt
Published: October 08, 2020Barring an injury in the warm-up, Arsenal rising star Bukayo Saka will make his full debut for England's senior team in Thursday evening's friendly against Wales at the National Stadium in London, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The versatile winger has been selected by manager Gareth Southgate in the starting lineup against Wales and will be wearing the number 3 on his back when he steps out on to the Wembley turf.
In an experimental starting lineup chosen by the England boss, Saka starts at left wing-back, a role he has often played for Arsenal.
Saka was heavily courted by the Nigeria Football Federation to switch his allegiance from England to the Super Eagles but the English Football Association have moved fast to secure his international future.
The 19-year-old would become cap-tied to England for life if he features in their next three matches against Belgium, Denmark and New Zealand.
Chelsea-owned Tammy Abraham and Ross Barkley as well as Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli were eligible to represent the Super Eagles before England locked their futures, and Saka could follow suit.
