Rohr's Assistant Reveals How The Super Eagles Players Felt After Third Consecutive Loss To Algeria
Published: October 11, 2020Gernot Rohr's assistant Tunde Adelakun has revealed how the Super Eagles players shortly after losing their consecutive match to African champions Algeria on Friday.
Algeria scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the sixth minute when Ramy Bensebaini's left-footed shot from the centre of the box found the
high centre of the goal after he was picked out by Andy Delort.
Adelakun confessed that the Super Eagles players felt down during the bus ride back to their hotel but has backed the team to bounce back when they face Tunisia on Tuesday, October 13.
When asked how the players felt after the loss, Adelakun told ESPN's Colin Udoh : "Bus rides are always quiet when you're going back. Head hanging, reflective, everybody was reflective what could we have done right, what could we have done wrong.
"I'm a great philosopher, I'm a great believer I should say in the philosophy of you move forward, you move forward immediately.
"You look forward, you think forward and don't look back, the only thing you want to look back is how bad it was so that you can know what to do when you go forward but you don't want to spend too much time dwelling on it because if you dwell on it, it doesn't change anything. It doesn't change the result.
"Bus ride was quiet, Gernot is a veteran of this game, he's seen it all, he took it very well, you know philosophical, we learned from it, we've got to learn from it even further and it's going to get better.
"We believe in the ability of ourselves, we believe in the talent that Nigeria has got and we believe in the people behind us supporting us."
