'Ronaldo Wears It' - Manchester City Striker Sodje On Favourite Shirt No, Style Of Play
Published: October 12, 2020Red-hot Manchester City U18 striker Tai Sodje has revealed that the number 7 is his favourite shirt number because it's usually worn by Portugal and Juventus icon Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 17-year-old has been in blistering form in the new season, scoring in every game he has been involved in for the Citizens and the highlight of his performance was a hat-trick against Liverpool in an U18 Premier League fixture on September 26.
Sodje joined Manchester City at U12 level, rising through the ranks before making his debut for the U18s in an U18 Premier League Cup win vs Reading in February 2020.
When asked if he has a favourite shirt number, Sodje told Manchester City's official website : "Probably number 7, because Ronaldo wears it. He was my favourite player when I was younger".
Capable of playing as an attacker and winger, Tai has been likened
to Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for his similar playing
style and goalscoring prowess.
Describing his style of play, Sodje said : "I would say that I’m a goal scorer – but I can play across the front three.
"I enjoy playing all three positions and like to think I’ve a good understanding of them all".
Born and raised in Sheffield, Tai Sodje is the nephew of former Nigeria international Sam Sodje.
