Jero Shakpoke's Son Makes Debut For Aston Villa In 2-0 Win At Tottenham Hotspur U18
Published: October 19, 2020Ruben Shakpoke, son of retired Nigeria international Jero Shakpoke, made his first competitive appearance for Aston Villa as their U18 team beat Tottenham Hotspur in the U18 Premier League on Saturday, October 17, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The England youth international ended a five-year affiliation with Norwich City before joining Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.
The highly-rated striker entered the pitch as a substitute in the 74th minute, replacing Reddin and with Aston Villa leading 2-0 courtesy of goals from Bogarde and Abldeen-Goodridge.
Aston Villa made it five wins from five to maintain their one hundred percent record in the new season.
Last weekend's clash was Shakpoke's second appearance in the U18 Premier League, the first coming in a 5-3 loss to Fulham in November 2019 while wearing the colours of Norwich City.
Ruben's dad was the Super Eagles first choice right-back leading up to the 1998
World Cup, but the defender missed out on the tournament in France after
suffering a serious injury in a pre-World Cup friendly against the
Netherlands.
