FC Midtjylland boss reveals Brentford-linked Super Eagles star is close to being sold
Published: July 19, 2021FC Midtjylland got off to a sluggish start in their season opener, losing 2-1 to Odense Boldklub at the MCH Arena on Friday, July 16.
Nigeria international Frank Onyeka was conspicuously missing from the matchday 18 of the Wolves.
The FC Ebedei product is close to departure from the Danish Superliga club, with Premier League new boys Brentford believed to be in pole position for his services, subject to a work permit.
FC Midtjylland manager Bo Henriksen went straight to the point when asked about the absence of Onyeka from the squad that lost to OB, saying that the Super Eagles star is on the brink of a transfer.
Midtjylland want to boost their finances by selling Onyeka, Jens-Lys Cajuste and Sory Kaba this summer and the trio were not involved against OB.
In quotes relayed by Bold.dk, Henriksen said : "In relation to Frank, it is probably close to a sale, I think, and in relation to Cajuste, it is probably also around there. Kaba is not mentally ready to play".
Onyeka is doubtful to be included in the Midtjylland squad for tomorrow evening's UEFA Champions League qualifier against Glasgow Celtic.
