Roster adjustment : Nigeria call in replacement as Uzoho pulls out of squad for 2022 WCQ
Published: November 07, 2021The Nigeria Football Federation have made a small roster adjustment ahead of the upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifying matches against Liberia and Cape Verde.
On Sunday night, the Nigerian Federation officially announced that Enyimba goalkeeper John Noble has been drafted as a replacement for Francis Uzoho.
Manager Gernot Rohr will not be able to count on the services of the Omonia Nicosia glovesman who has called in sick ahead of the matchday five and six fixtures.
Uzoho was on duty for Omonia Nicosia in the Europa Conference League on Thursday but wasn't listed in the matchday squad for the Cypriot First Division clash against Ethnikos Achnas this evening.
Omonia Nicosia confirmed that the Nigerian was absent because he's sick and will be out for a few days.
Noble was the logical player to replace Uzoho on the roster having trained with the Super Eagles when they faced Benin and Lesotho in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, and Cameroon in two friendlies this summer.
Uzoho was in goal for the Super Eagles in their only loss in the World Cup qualifiers, a 1-0 defeat to Central African Republic on matchday three in Lagos.
