Manager comments on Osimhen's future amid links with Newcastle United; AFCON, recovery time
Published: November 25, 2021
Victor Osimhen's manager Osita Okolo was interviewed by CalcioNapoli24 TV on Wednesday and touched on a number of topics including the striker's link with Newcastle United, the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and his recovery time.
The Nigeria international was operated on his cheekbone and eye socket by Gianpaolo Tartaro on Tuesday and assuming there is no modification to the medical bulletin issued by Napoli, his estimated downtime is three months, meaning he will miss the upcoming AFCON in Cameroon.
In recent weeks, there were claims that Newcastle United were exploring ways to sign the Napoli number nine.
Osimhen is valued at more than 100 million euros by Napoli but money is not an issue to the Magpies given that they have new owners, Saudi Public Investment Fund.
"Newcastle? Napoli remains our home," Okolo was quoted as saying by Napoli Magazine.
On the Africa Cup of Nations and Osimhen's recovery time, he said : "Africa Cup? Victor's priority is to be first of all well, the rest matters little now.
"He was playing very well and had conquered everyone. This injury stopped Osimhen but he wants to come back stronger than before
"Recovery times? We have to wait what the doctors say. They talked about three months, maybe it becomes two but we don't know. It is a very complicated injury that requires caution, step by step we will see the boy's answers"

Osimhen is Napoli's top goalscorer in the Serie A (5) and Europa League (4) in the 2021-2022 campaign and his good form has not gone unnoticed by top European clubs.
