Top ten fastest players in Ligue 1 this season : Only Kylian Mbappe outpaced Super Eagles striker
Published: September 28, 2022
The official website of the French Ligue 1 has carried out a study on the top ten fastest players in the top flight with two Nigeria internationals who were in action in Tuesday's friendly against Algeria making the cut.
Lorient striker Terem Moffi is ranked the second fastest player in Ligue 1 while Nantes winger Moses Simon is in eighth place.
It is not surprising that Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappé holds the distinction of being the fastest player in the Ligue 1 after eight matches, outpacing Moffi to claim the speedstar tag.
The 2018 World Cup winner clocked a top speed of 36 km / h while Moffi also proved that he is a formidable sprinter by reaching a maximum speed of 35.64 km/h.
Three players complete the podium namely Elye Wahi (MHSC), Jonathan Clauss (OM) and Jonathan David (LOSC) who share third place after clocking up to 35.28 km/h.
With a top speed of 34.56 km/h, Super Eagles captain against Algeria on Tuesday, Simon is joint-eight along with Cengiz Under (OM) and Achraf Hakimi (PSG).
Moffi used his speed to good effect when he netted his third international goal against the Fennec Foxes by slipping in behind his marker before tapping the ball into the net in the ninth minute.
Prior to reporting for international duty, the 23-year-old notched six goals in his last six matches for Lorient in the French Ligue 1.
