EPL wrap : Iwobi suffers another defeat, Aribo wins with Southampton, Solanke goes 90, Edozie benched
Published: October 19, 2022Nigeria-eligible players were in action for their respective clubs in matchday 11 of the Premier League.
It was a night of mixed fortunes for Nigeria-eligible footballers as some jubilated while others were not pleased with the outcome of the game.
Allnigeriasoccer.com presents a summary of the three games that had Nigeria-eligible players.
Starting from the G-Tech Community Stadium, Frank Onyeka was in action for Brentford while Carney Chukwuemeka was a second half substitute for Chelsea.
Brentford hosted Chelsea on Thursday night but none of the sides could take the maximum points.
Onyeka was on for 60 minutes while Chukwuemeka was brought on in the 62nd minute.
At St James' Park, Alex Iwobi was unable to prevent Everton from losing 1-0 to Newcastle United - the Toffees third consecutive loss in the Premier League.
Iwobi played 74 minutes before being replaced by former Manchester United boy, James Garner.
Miguel Almiron's 31st minute goal was enough to give the Magpies three points.
At the Vitality stadium, Dominic Solanke's efforts were not enough to save his side from a 1-0 loss to Joe Aribo's Southampton.
Solanke played the entire duration of the game with Aribo only playing 65 minutes and Sam Edozie failing to come on from the bench.
Che Adams gave the visitors the lead as early as the 9th minute and that was enough to give them the victory.
