'It's a no-brainer' - Ex-Liverpool midfielder urges Man Utd to sign Harry Kane over Osimhen
Published: April 26, 2023
Although it is a hard one to call, former Liverpool midfielder Don Hutchison, when put on the spot, has urged Manchester United to sign Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane over Napoli goalscoring sensation Victor Osimhen in the summer.
The Red Devils are in the market for a traditional number 9 and have been linked with the England skipper and 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup Golden Boot winner Osimhen.
Kane has been one of the best strikers in the English Premier League for the last nine seasons, but it won't be easy for United to get a deal over the line as Tottenham Hotspur chief Daniel Levy is known to be a shrewd negotiator and a proof of that is the deal taking Gareth Bale to Real Madrid in 2013.
Should Kane complete a move to Manchester United at the end of the season, he would be 30 years old and would have no resale value, whereas Osimhen could be useful to the club for at least seven years.
While Kane has mustered 24 goals in the Premier League, Osimhen is the top scorer in the Serie A with 21 goals to his name.
"I love Osimhen, I adore Victor Osimhen, but Harry Kane guarantees you 30 goals or more every single season." Hutchison said on ESPN FC Extra Time.
"It's a no-brainer, England's number 9. For Manchester United it has to be Harry Kane."
This is the last year Tottenham Hotspur can get good money for Kane because his contract runs out at the end of next season, meaning he would be able to speak to the likes of Bayern Munich in January and sign pre-contract agreements.
